Typhoon Muifa

You think you've got it bad. Today, the BBC website's weather page says, of the weather in the UK: "Cloudy and grey. Rain in west later". Today's copy of the Vietnam News says, of the weather in southern Vietnam, in light of the imminent typhoon, "local officials should devise ways to protect human lives". The Vietnamese have a hell of a way with words don't they?

Right now we're in Hoi An, which is pretty much in the middle of Vietnam. In under an hour, we embark on a twelve hour bus trip to Nha Trang, a beach resort in the south. We may arrive before the storm hits, but then again, we may arrive slap bang in the middle of the dirty great f*cker. Why don't we stay here in Hoi An, sit it out, buy a few tailored suits? It would seem sensible, wouldn't it, but our 'schedule' is now so tight that we haven't got the time.

A tough call, but we've decided to ride our luck, to get in front of the storm. We arrive in Nha Trang at 6am tomorrow. About ten minutes later we board a bus for Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon). Our third twenty-four hour bus trip in a week. Lovely. The storm may chase us into Cambodia, licking at our heels, but hopefully we'll beat it and have the time to spend a few days chilling on the beach in Sidhuakaville.

Batten down the hatches, here comes Typhoo Muifa. Wish us luck.
